    1. Radial Keratotomy/Laser Correction etc. shall be
considered as disqualification for appointment in Railway
Technical Services (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and
Electronics). Permitted correction for conforming to
prescribed visual standards is spectacles only.

    1. In respect of the Technical Service
the total amount of myopia (including
the cylinder) shall not exceed—4,00 D. Total amount of
Hypermetropia (including the cylinder) shall not
      exceed+400D :
Provided that in case a candidate in respect of the
Services classified as “Technical” (other than the Services
under the Ministry of Railways) is found unfit on grounds
of high myopia the matter shall be referred to a special
boards of three Opthalmologists to declare whether this
myopia is Pathological or not. In case it is not pathological
the candidate shall be declared fit provided he fulfils the
      visual requirements otherwise.

      1. Thank you Mr.Amit for ur valuable reply.
Whether the commission gives the vacancy details at each region(location) so that a candidate can prefer service with respect to location of his choice?

  1. Vacancies are not advertised region wise. Only after you enter into the service ,you are asked for the preference of zone. The zone allotment is also done on the basis of AIR and your performance in the probation period

    1. IN probation period, officers undergo training then there is a exam at the end and after that 1 year of service in the field. After that they are finally confirmed into service

    1. For ESE-2013 service allocation was done in October 2014. But for ESE 2014, medical examination has already been conducted , so allocation may earlier than previous year.

  2. Sir,
in civil engineering rank 16 and 20, both have eyesight power >4. How did they get cpwd even though its a technical service?? Shouldnt prople with high power be alotted non technical service like irss

    1. I think when power >4 , it is referred to board and then they decide whether its pathological or not. In case it is not pathological the candidate shall be declared fit for technical services except railways provided he fulfills the visual requirements otherwise.

  3. sir,
The term Pathological is vague, can you suggest me a way to know if my myopia is pathological or not. Can any govt. ophthalmologist tell me by examining my eye ? I think it depends on medical board so it is uncertain I will be declared medically fit or not if I clear the exam.

  4. Can you please give me some more information about central power engineering services. what kind of job they do there etc. any link or brief information is needed

  5. sir in my medical report it was written…myopia >4D fit for some services only…m i considerable for IOFS???…ur guidance is really comendable sir….

  6. hi amit, why do people choose irse over irss when irss offers same perks, better postings, lesser workload?(am i right)
    p.s.-your work is awesome 🙂

  7. Sir,generally in which month Final medical result and allocation used to be uploaded in Ministry of railways’s website ??

  8. Hello amit sir, sir i am 1 eye person means power in my right eye is 6/60 and power in left eye is 6/6. So with both eyes i can function normally even i don’t wear specs during study. Sir plese tell me that i am medically fit for ese. My branch is E&T eng. And i am preparing for gate and ese-2015. Less vision in my right eye is from childhood and called ‘lazy eye’ in medical term.

  9. Hi Sir,
Thanks for posting this excellent analysis. My query is why IRSS figures at near bottom in the preference order for civil engineering posts although it gets filled quite early in other branches. Does the Railways within IRSS maintain separate departments with separate functions for members from different engineering streams or are they all finally allotted same postings with similar powers and functions irrespective of their graduation degree? Also do promotions blur the initial compartmentalisation, if any exists within IRSS, at lower levels (As per wiki page all IRSS officers have same career trajectory)? Please answer as I don’t know the differentiation, and I want to submit DAF after consultation with a trustworthy source.

    Thanks!

    1. All the officers in IRSS from different engineering streams get same posting and same nature of work.It is a unified service for all of officers. It is not the technical branch of railways. The works of IRSS is stores management of IR from procurement to scrap disposal. Although facilities are same but student prefer more technical nature of work ,so therefore they look for other alternative before opting for store services. However if good options are not available it is better to go for stores sevices,

  10. Sir I am partially colour blind student of iti machinist trade. Due to my this problem , can I fit for workshop job in rail or ordinance factory ? If not so after medical exam are they disqualify me or transfer others job? Please sir just give reply

  11. Sir ,
